Materials Manager (Real Estate, Construction)

Buckingham is seeking an entrepreneurial professional with materials management experience to drive impact across the organization and beyond within the Buckingham Supply Chain Management organization.  As a Materials Manager, you will lead company supply chain, logistics, warehousing, and material planning and management activities across multiple business units.  The Materials Manager is responsible for the supervision and facilitation of inventory storage and operations related to the acquisition of materials, supplies and equipment required for all Company departments to perform contractual base life support.

The qualified candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, engineering, economics or relevant field
• 5+ years’ experience in a similar materials management role
• Solid understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems
• Understanding of forecasting and budgeting
• Strong project management and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of ERP systems
• ~10-25% domestic travel as necessary
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels of management and staff
• Customer service oriented

• Lead the activities related to the requisition of material, material planning, and inventory control
• Establish local, regional, and national strategy for critical spares and large CAPEX material purchases
• Manage the distribution of supplies in the organization to support new construction, renovation, and facilities maintenance projects
• Manage inventory levels based on business needs, min/max levels, and lead times
• Monitors and supervises inventory levels, including annual physical inventory to support accounting
• Manage and train supervisors across multiple business units, approximately 70 sites across the U.S.
• Monitor materials requirements and oversee supplies and materials are purchased according to specifications
• Plan and develop material schedules
• Visit vendors and supplier distribution centers and plants to examine and learn about prices, products, and services
• Lead as the primary cross-functional communicator regarding materials inventory, storage, and management
• Develop, maintain, lead to, and report on key process indicators
• Maintain and review records of inventories, product performance, deliveries, costs, and items purchased
• Analyze inventory levels and accuracy to support resolution of inventory discrepancies
• Participate in inter-departmental teams working towards continuous process improvement, elimination of waste, and simultaneous engineering
• Work on projects to improve quality, cycle time, process variation, and efficiency
• Keep detailed records on procurement activity, materials quantity, specifications, etc.
