Buckingham is seeking a Supply Chain professional with a proven track record and business acumen to drive impact across the organizations and beyond. This role has an opportunity to join the team early-on and have influence in the overall strategy development.  The Senior Category Manager will work and partner with multiple teams to develop and execute category sourcing strategies, deliver savings, develop, and improve vendor performance, and improve productivity across assigned categories.

A qualified candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or Economic or related field
  • 7-10+ years of experience in sourcing or supply chain management or equivalent role
  • 1 year of experience in construction or working closely with construction subcontractors is a plus 
  • Advanced capability in building out strategic negotiation strategies
  • Experience working cross-functionally with all areas of the business
  • Self-starter with a creative mind who takes initiative and ownership with a proven track record of putting ideas into practice and assessing results while maintaining strong business partnerships in a dynamic and face paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects concurrently, ability to work with minimal supervision, strong project management skills
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience in budgeting, financials, and P&L


  • Establish category sourcing strategies, lead cross-functional strategic sourcing teams, negotiate with suppliers, and execute contracts to optimize Buckingham’s competitive position
  • Drive appropriate relationships with category suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the optimal solution and cost of ownership that meets the business’ goals supported by a culture of continuous improvement with performance benchmarks in use
  • Manage category suppliers to proactively identify, monitor and optimize opportunities
  • Collect and communicate market intelligence for your category to key stakeholders; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed
  • Develop and implement supplier governance activities to mitigate risk, improve performance and add value to Buckingham
  • Identify, achieve, and report on savings and value targets for category activities
  • Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the category
  • Earn the trust of key stakeholders to drive alignment with the business
  • Create a category strategy in conjunction with internal customers to ensure there is a comprehensive, unified approach for the category
  • Achieve yearly cost saving or value targets appropriate to the category aligned with annual budget processes
  • Define and report on key metrics that measure effectiveness of supply and cost savings
  • Champion standards and process improvements
