Overview

The Director of Investor Relations & Capital Raising will be responsible for the fundraising process with prospective investors and maintaining existing investor relationships. This will include timely completion of formal requests for proposal and due diligence questionnaires for existing and prospective investors and developing a thorough understanding of each client’s goals, reporting needs and portfolio investment objectives.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required preferably in finance, real estate economics or related field
  • MBA in finance or real estate accretive but not required

Experience & Skills 

  • Minimum 7-10 years of client service or capital raising experience; financial services/real estate experience required
  • Proven track record of capital raising experience working directly with institutional investors
  • Investor-oriented mindset
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively maintain databases, keep accurate to-do lists and follow up with all investor requests
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, writing and research skills
  • Experience and familiarity with CRM systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including but not limited to Excel and PowerPoint
  • Travel is required

Responsibilities

Investor Relations

  • Ensure service standards and processes are shared and understood by relevant departments to maintain quality, accuracy and delivery standards
  • Ensure common standards are set and maintained across all relevant funds, separate accounts and that disclosures are in line with requirements set by the LPA or other legal requirements
  • Contribute to Investor reports and ensure reporting standards meet the client's evolving needs (digital delivery, new measurement performance, reporting standards for different jurisdictions, timeline, regulatory requirements, etc.)
  • Ensure that all clients are given high-quality and responsive information on products and performance
  • Understand covered institutional clients evolving needs and coherently convey those needs to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure Client Services procedures (Legal, Tax, documentation) are tracked and updated accordingly
  • Execute best-in-class client engagement and client onboarding by building client and compliance team rapport
  • Utilize the contact management system for all client-related activity
  • Be able to answer Investor questions with ease, understand portfolio management decisions, know the pitch and have knowledge of high priority pipeline deals
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with Investor and Consultant industry

 Capital Raising

  • Assist in developing marketing and fundraising materials, including pitch books, campaign teasers, due diligence questionnaires, offering memorandum, competitor information, prospect pipelines, among others, for investors
  • Work with senior management to develop a marketing plan and pipeline of prospective Investors
  • Build and develop relationships with prospective Investors, facilitate the scheduling of qualified prospective Investor presentations and coordinate capital roadshows
  • Coordinate and represent Buckingham at industry-sponsored conferences to attract and schedule prospective Investor meetings
  • Take ownership of the entire sales/fundraising process with prospects
  • Populate and maintain all client activity and relevant information in the contact management system
  • Nurture the current Investor relationships to remain current on investment objectives and present new investment opportunities
  • Coordinate, assist and review RFI/RFPs by collaborating with the RFP team and respective expert team to ensure final review and sign-off
  • Coordinate and assist due diligence activities undertaken by prospective Investors
  • Manage and assist legal in the final stage of Investor negotiations
  • Keep abreast with competitor products and strategies
  • Be able to answer Investor/prospect questions with ease, understand portfolio management decisions, know the pitch and have knowledge of high priority pipeline deals
