Overview

The Director of Capital Markets will be responsible for sourcing, developing and managing debt relationships with multiple lender types to address the company’s short- and long-term financing needs. The Director of Capital Markets will actively manage property level financing, establish strategic debt maturity ladders, maintain the firm’s debt management software, regularly model financing options, and make recommendations on refinancing, loan modifications, changes, interest rate management and property disposition strategies all while tracking and minimizing total project cost of capital.

Qualifications

Training/Education

College Degree in Finance, Real Estate or Accounting

MBA preferred

5+ years of experience in real estate capital markets, finance or related position

 

Experience/Skills 

Strong knowledge of markets and debt structuring across different sectors

Strong network with lenders, including across multiple lender types, preferred

Responsibilities

Debt 

  • Source the most competitive debt financing available to support annual development, acquisition, and refinancing pipeline.
  • Develop and manage multiple lender relationships, while continuously monitoring debt markets and terms.
  • Manage the process of capital solicitation including bidding debt capital and creating competitive debt proposals.
  • Strategically manage allocations to fixed and variable interest rate commitments, debt maturities ladder, cost of borrowing, etc., including collaboration with and reporting to the CEO and Investment Committee.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by delivering strategic market insights and customized financing solutions.
  • Review and make recommendations as to modifications, changes, interest rate management, and exit strategies.
  • Lead internal and external presentations, and transaction marketing efforts.
  • Proactively manage upcoming debt maturities, renewals, extensions, loan covenants, etc.
  • Direct monthly capital meetings; review all ongoing debt transactions, status, issues, closings.
  • Maintain the company’s debt management software.
  • Create and manage internal and external reporting as required.

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance on other significant transactions across the company, such as land acquisition, acquisitions, and dispositions.
  • Provide assistance on sourcing, developing, and managing relationships with real estate equity investors, including institutions, RIAs, and high net worth investors.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to tell the Buckingham story, source new capital, build new relationships, to ensure ongoing lender and investor partners remain well informed about Buckingham activity.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
