Overview

The Senior Investment Analyst is responsible for delivering high-quality financial and operational analysis to support capital investment initiatives across Buckingham Companies and its subsidiary Funds. Depending on the Sr. Investment Analyst’s area of focus, responsibilities may emphasize acquisition and development underwriting, portfolio and investor reporting, asset performance analysis, risk reporting, or the creation of data-driven tools and dashboards to support investment decisions. The position also supports due diligence efforts, develops presentation materials, and provides actionable, ad-hoc insights to inform strategic decision-making and enhance overall operational efficiency

The qualified candidate will have:

  • Ideally 3+ years’ experience in an analytical focused position with leadership ambitions
  • College degree in Finance, Business, Real Estate, Property Management, or similar
  • Prior real estate experience highly preferred but not required
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Excel
  • Strong knowledge of core finance processes (month-end close, budgeting, forecasting)

Responsibilities

Investments

  • Develop & analyze underwriting pro formas for new development and acquisition opportunities, including validation of assumptions with Asset Management, Property Management, Development, and Construction
  • Review market research, both for active opportunities as well as current assets; be apprised of major economic conditions affecting the multifamily real estate industry
  • Provide financial analysis and various options for optimization of capital stack
  • Prepare comprehensive presentation materials, such as for investment committee or equity partners

 

Asset Management

  • Research, analyze, and make recommendations needed for stabilized, acquisition, and development assets
  • Analyze and provide feedback on acquisition due diligence reporting
  • Assist in Asset Management’s oversight of annual property budget processes, including operations and CapEx
  • Track property metrics comparing to business plan budget, acquisition pro forma, and capital renovation goals and return on costs; identify trends, monitor success, and identify areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with Asset Management to monitor performance and market conditions, while providing recommendations
  • Proactively analyze, plan, and communicate with key stakeholders

 

Portfolio Management & Capital Markets

 

  • Focus on executing portfolio investment strategies, managing portfolio performance, and enhancing returns through acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing
  • Perform portfolio analytics and data management, monitoring performance and reporting
  • Create and monitor portfolio models, reforecasts, and hold/sell analyses
  • Prepare financing packages, investor reports, and fundraising materials
  • Assist as needed with fundraising and the investor due diligence process
  • Assist in debt management processes, including closing support, ongoing compliance, and refinancing analyses
  • Assist with portfolio operations, including compliance, financings, valuations, analysis, reporting, and other tasks as needed
  • Coordinate with real estate tax consultants on decisions pertaining to tax assessments and appeals
  • Maintain tracking of investor and lender CRM database and data rooms

 

General

 

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers, including Development, Acquisitions, Asset Management, and Capital Markets
  • Deliver results for multiple projects in a fast paced environment often with tight time constraints
  • Maintain client-oriented perspective while ensuring data, metrics, and detailed analyses are accurate and consistent across sources and deliverables
  • Ensure company policies, procedures and guidelines are complied with in a professional manner and are demonstrated in all oral and written communications
  • Travel, when needed and directed by supervisor, for market evaluations, due diligence on new investments, and portfolio site visits
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor
