Overview

The Asset Management provides support to the Asset Management functions, supporting the organization’s mission, vision and values.  The Asset Management Intern will support the Asset Management Team in overseeing the performance and strategic decision-making for our multifamily real estate portfolio.

Qualifications

Business, Finance, or Real Estate Major.

Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.

 

Experience/Skills  

Working knowledge of returns-based metrics including cap rates, leveraged/unleveraged returns, IRR and discounted cash flow analysis.

Advanced Excel Skills.

Ability to learn multi-task and quickly complete projects with a high degree of accuracy.

Professional demeanor and attitude.

High degree of self-initiative and drive.

Good problem-solving skills.

Strong listening and communication skills.

Ability to take direction, ask clarifying questions and provide efficient/effective results.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, including reviewing property financial statements, rent rolls, and market data, to evaluate property performance, identify trends, and recommend strategies for optimizing financial results.
  • Asset Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as occupancy rates, rental rates, revenue growth, and expense trends to identify potential areas for improvement and implement proactive measures.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual property budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research and analysis to evaluate market conditions, competitor activities, and emerging trends in the multifamily real estate sector. Provide insights and recommendations to inform investment strategies and identify new opportunities.
  • Due Diligence: Collaborate with the acquisition team during due diligence processes, supporting property evaluations, financial modeling, lease reviews, and other related tasks to ensure informed investment decisions.
  • Reporting and Presentation: Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports, presentations, and performance summaries for senior management and stakeholders, effectively communicating property performance, market insights, and strategic recommendations.
  • Asset Optimization: Assist in identifying value-add opportunities and implementing strategies to optimize property performance. Evaluate potential capital improvement projects, operational efficiencies, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks associated with property operations and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, property-specific contracts, and internal policies.
  • Investor Relations: Support investor relations activities by providing accurate and timely information, responding to inquiries, and assisting in the preparation of investor communications and reports.
